High-Strength Nickel-Iron MIG Wire for Cast Iron Repair and Dissimilar Welding

Weld Star FN 55 is a precision layer wound, ferro-nickel solid MIG wire designed for welding cast iron and ductile iron, as well as for dissimilar joints between cast iron and steel or stainless steel. Its nickel-iron composition ensures strong, ductile welds with reduced risk of cracking, even on difficult-to-weld castings.

Engineered to handle high sulphur, high phosphorus, or lubricant-contaminated castings, FN 55 delivers stable arc performance, excellent fusion, and clean weld deposits. Ideal for critical maintenance and repair jobs, such as rebuilding shafts, welding wheels, or joining cast iron to structural steel.

Supplied in vacuum-sealed packaging for protection against moisture and oxidation.

Key Features

  • Nickel-Iron Alloyed – Excellent for welding grey, ductile, and malleable cast iron
  • Dissimilar Metal Capability – Ideal for joining cast iron to mild steel or stainless steel
  • Crack-Resistant Welds – Strong, ductile deposits with reduced risk of cracking
  • Contamination Tolerant – Performs well on castings with high sulphur, phosphorus, or oil
  • Precision Layer Wound – Ensures smooth, reliable wire feeding
  • Vacuum-Sealed Packaging – Protects from moisture absorption and oxidation
  • Certified Quality – Material certificates available for traceability and compliance

Typical Applications

  • Repair of cast iron machine parts, shafts, or housings
  • Rebuilding of worn components such as wheels or pulleys
  • Joining cast iron to structural steel or stainless steel
  • Industrial maintenance and general repair work
