Weld Star ER 309LSi is an austenitic stainless steel MIG wire with low carbon content to minimise intergranular carbide precipitation and enhance resistance to intergranular corrosion all without stabilising elements like niobium or titanium. The increased silicon content improves weld pool fluidity, resulting in a smooth, high-quality weld deposit.

Offering excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance up to 300°C, ER 309LSi is ideal for joining and overlay of stainless steels with similar composition such as AISI 309 castings and 3Cr12. It performs well in carburising atmospheres and is often used for buffer layers before hardfacing and dissimilar joints between ferritic and austenitic steels.
